Having problem installing CANOSCAN D1250U2F driver.

I've downloaded, installed & run the abv driver from
http://software.canon-europe.com/index.asp. The program is now available in
the menu but when i opened the Canon ScanGear Toolbar 3.1, there is no
scanner to select (scanner not detected?) My system was working fine until
the sata hardisk broke down recently and had to be replaced. Now i'm in the
midst of re-installing my hardwares.

Appreciate any form of advice and assistance.

Not sure about Cannon but my Epson requires that the scanner is not
connected to the PC before you install the drivers.
You might want to uninstall the drivers, disconnect the scanner, reboot the
PC and then re-install the drivers. Also would not hurt to check your manual
for the install instructions.
