Switching from Category to Classic View ---- lost feature ????

For some apparent reason I have lost the ability to change windows views (
From Category View to Classic View and vice versa ) . Normally when I click
Start / Control Panel -- I would get a window that comes up and on the left
side of the page I could switch between views . I believe the Box was
identified as Control Panel and one view was listed and if you switched views
the window would change to that view . All I have now on the left side is a
box that says SEE ALSO with " Windows Update" and "Help & Support " listed
under the heading . All my icons are listed to the right of this . Can anyone
help me get the control Panel switching header option back .??

Here are a few things I would try:

- Press F5 or Ctrl/F5 to refresh the window.

- Click Start, Run, type SFC /SCANNOW, click OK. If any are damaged or
missing files, they'll be replaced. You may need to reboot afterwards
so damaged files will be replaced.

- See if any of these restore the switch option:

256. Restore the Control Panel - Disable : Current , Local, Both
