Control Panel Classic / Category View

We set our Windows XP SP 2 computers to have the Control Panel display in
Classic view. Lately, I have logged on to several computers and found them
back in Category view. Its possible that the users are changing the view
type manually, but is there any possible reason the system could change the
display type without user intervention?

If the machines have XP Professional installed, you can 'force' the classic view with a policy (from Gpedit.msc): "Force Classic Control Panel Style", at User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel.
