Switch between language

Guest

Hi

I have Windows Xp Pro sp1. I've configured three language for the keyboard
French Canada, English US and chinese.

At the beginning I was able to switch between both language with the
language bar or by using lshift+lalt. Now, when I choose a language via the
language bar or by using the shorctcut key, nothings happens and it stays at
the default one. So if I want to switch I have to change the default input
language.

It is a little bit anoying

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your post.

My understanding on this issue is that you cannot switch the language by
using language bar or shortcut key "shift+alt". If I have misunderstood,
please feel free to let me know.

Based on my experience, I suggest you remove them from language bar and add
them again as following:

1. Go to Control Panel and double-click on Regional and Language Options
2. Choose Languages Tab and click on Details button
3. Remove them and Add them again one by one
4. After adding all languages you need, click Language Bar button and check
the following options:

Show the Language bar on the desktop
Show additional Language bar icons in the taskbar

5. Click OK
6. Under Default input language list, choose one of them as a default
language
7. Restart the computer

Please try the above steps and let me know the result on your side at your
earliest convenience. If there are any new findings or concerns regarding
the issue, please feel free to post back. I'm looking forward to hearing
from you.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Amanda

Tried that and stil have the issue. The only workaround I have found is to
configure and attribute a key sequence to each language (French and English).
This way it is working but I would prefer to have the language bar

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your update.

You can workaround the issue by configuring and attribute a key sequence to
each language. But you would prefer to have the language bar.

First, please help me to confirm if the language bar can exist on the
desktop or system tray but nothing happen after clicking on it or it
doesn't exist.

Second, I would suggest you perform the following steps to isolate the
issue:

Step 1: Delete all the other languages in the list of languages

Step 2: Clean Boot

1. Click Start, click Run, and then in the Open box, type "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks). Click OK.

2. In the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) window, click to select
the Selective Startup button.

3. Click to clear the check mark from the "Load startup items" below
Selective Startup.

4. Click the Services tab, click to check the "Hide All Microsoft Services"
box, and remove all the check marks from the remained Non-Microsoft
Services. *note that please make sure that you do not uncheck the Microsoft
services.

5. Click OK to close the MSConfig window. Click Yes when you are asked to
restart your computer in order to enable the changes.

6. After restarting, please check whether this issue will reoccur.

If this issue does NOT reoccur following the Selective Startup, please
continue these steps to find the exact cause:

1. Click Start, click Run, in the Open box type "MSCONFIG" (without the
quotation marks), and click OK.

2. In the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) window, click the Startup
tab or the Services tab.

3. Add one check mark at a time to the entries under the Startup tab or the
Services tab, and then restart each time to see if the additional entry
reproduces the original problem.

Step 3: Boot in Safe Mode

I suggest we restart the computer in the Safe Mode to see if the problem
also occurs in the mode which loads a minimal protected-mode configuration,
disabling Windows device drivers and using the standard VGA display
adapter.

1. Restart the computer.

2. Keep press F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.

3. Choose the Safe Mode, and press Enter.

Note: In the Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and
perform differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary.

Please try all steps at your earliest convenience. If you have any
questions or concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. I am looking forward
to hearing from you.

Thanks & Regards
