.swf in ppt

Hi

I am trying to insert a .swf in my ppt.
But ppt inserts it as an object - it allows only .avi files to be auto-palyed
..avi files are quite heavy (640 kb) - has to be referenced to.
Is there any way to insert .swf files which are lighter (20 kb) and easy to play. I have flsah player inserted in my laptop - which plays the swf even in IE - but not in .ppt

Any pointers will help

Cheers
Anindya.

Easy peasy!
You need to open the visual basic toolbar
click on the hammer/spanner
do that again on the toolbar that then appears on the top
bar and scroll all the way down to the shockwave flash
object.
Draw out a frame - it will appear with a cross.
Right click and go to properties - window will open on LHS
find movie and write in the address of the swf file
i.e. c:my documents/ etc
add /name of file.swf
this works for me!
Have fun

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

Although it's possible to use Shockwave Flash controls in PowerPoint (using
an ActiveX control), you may find that PowerPoint does not currently
support the level of integration with Shockwave Flash that you are seeking.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it is important to
have improved support for Shockwave Flash in PowerPoint, don't forget to
send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
