My antivirus program tells me that I have a virus in my
System Volume Information folder in my hard drive. The
program is unable to clean the virus and says the whole
object has to be remove. Is it safe to remove this folder
completely without having any problems with Win XP Pro?
Thanks.

You'll need to turn-off System Restore, reboot, then turn it back on.
The virus has infected your System Restore folder (system volume information).
