When closing down Windows XP Professional (SP2) I get a dialogue box withthe
following message:
Svchost.exe Application Error

Instruction At X00000019 Referenced Memory At 0X00000019 The Memory Could
Not Be Read.

Can someone advise me how to get rid of it and what it actually means please?

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in the System and
Application logs for the last shutdown and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Hi Gerry,

Thanks for your quick reply, this is what I found in the event viewer as per
your instructions. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM
Event Category: (8)
Event ID: 19011
Date: 11/01/2006
Time: 11:51:47 AM
User: N/A
Computer: JOHNSCOMPUTER
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 19011 ) in Source ( MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see
Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event:
(SpnRegister) : Error 1355.

Hi Gerry,

I have followed the instructions as per the link you sent, File & Printer
for microsoft networks were already installed. but my computer is not part of
a domain, it's in the default mode as part of a workgroup.

I have reformatted my hard disk and re-installed windows and I'm still
getting the same message when I shut down my computer, any other suggestions
would be appreciated.

Are there any other error reports appearing in the System or Application
logs of Event Viewer shortly before the Event 19011 error appears?

What particular programme are you trying to print from?

Hi Gerry,

I wasn't trying to print anything, I just got the error message everytime I
closed my system down.

I have now reformatted my hard disk (slow format) and re-installed windows
and all my other applications, my computer seems to be okay now.

Thanks for your assistance.

All the best
