svchost.exe -- application error the instruction at "0x745f2780"

Every time I start my computer I get an error dialog saying:
svchost.exe -- application error the instruction at "0x745f2780" reference
memory at "0x00000000". the memory could not be 'read'

Now, I first thought I had a virus but my virus software found nothing, nor
did my spyware software. So after trying all kinds of stunts to find out what
was the problem I found this in my event log:

"Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module
msi.dll, version 3.1.4000.2435, fault address 0x00012780."

Luckily this gave me something to google for and I found this post:

http://swigartconsulting.blogs.com/tech_blender/2006/07/windows_update_.html

This article describes my problem *exactly*!

Now, before following the steps in that article, it seems alot of users have
the same problem and if it's true it comes from a windows update I think
microsoft should post a new update that fixes the problem.

Can you please help me?

I have Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005.
