When I startup my PC I am getting the following error message:

svchost.exe - application error
The instruction at "0x745f2780" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The
memory could not be "read".

I ran the debug but everything locks up.

I am also receiving the same error message on startup on several of our
systems. If you close the error message the following services are stopped:

AudioSrv, BITS, Browser, CryptSvc, Dhcp,
dmserver, ERSvc, EventSystem, helpsvc,
HidServ, lanmanserver, lanmanworkstation,
Netman, Nla, RasMan, seclogon, SENS,
SharedAccess, ShellHWDetection, srservice,
TapiSrv, Themes, TrkWks, w32time, winmgmt,
wuauserv, WZCSVC

I have narrowed it down to the Automatic Update service, if it is disabled
then the system will startup normally without errors. The only changes have
been the current Microsoft patches that came out last week, but it is not
effecting all of my systems just a few.

Any ideas?

I think you have problems with Norton antivirus or Norton Internet security
(my case). In my case the svchost does not want to close down, when I am
swiching of my computer...:)

"I just resolved my issue by turning off automatic updates, reboot, then
manually going to windows updates and installing the updates, turing on
automatic updates, reboot."
I wonder why Microsoft dosn't know this ?

It seems that code has to do with some sort of Pentium program error
detection. I would assume that my machine failed to autoinstall an update
and this error was the result...please try and I hope this helps you out.
