Svchost error

Hello
Every time I start my computer, Just as win 2000 Pro starts it keeps
rebooting itself. I went to the control panel an un-checked the automatic
reboot feature but it did not help. If I go in Safe mode I get a SVCHOST.EXE
ERROR your system will shut down. I think I have A Virus but not sure which
one.
Where do I start if I can not get on Line but can get into safe mode.
