SVC Host Hanging in Local Network in Task Manager

I had an awful time reinstalling WINXP, I'm still not
sure It's fix Correctly. However, I'm able to get online
with my DSL connection. However, that's as far as I'm
getting when I try to use the IE Browser or any "Online"
tool I get the "page not there" error. When I check my
Task Manager, I find that the SVC Host for Local User is
hanging or using too much resources. Also, My explorer
bar hangs. When I end the SVCHOST task, my explorer bar
comes back to life. I know the SVCHOST is the culprit
but where do I start? Thanks in advance. I know this
occured after getting rid of that SP1 update.

Many parasites will use SVCHost to get thing going.

Rule out parasites.
