I have a wireless network in my home, the server is Win XP and the client is
Win 2003. We have been connected for a month or so, but just today I (the
client) received a suspicious email. The email comes from my father, who only
uses the server PC, but he says he has never sent me an email at this
account. I checked his email history and he is right.
My question is, how did this email reach my account, with my father's
account as the sender's address, when he never sent me an email?
Obviously I am concerned about a virus, and will do all the check ups, but
what else should I be concerned about? Further precautions, past mistakes,
etc.?
Thanks for your help.

It could due be a virus on your father's computer. It could be due to
a virus on somebody else's computer which has both your E-mail address
and your father's E-mail address in its address book.

Update and run the antivirus programs on your own computers.
Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to stop such messages from
coming from other people's computers.

The header of the bogus E-mail message might contain clues to its
origin -- sending IP address, sending E-mail server, etc.
