Is it possible to suppress in Word as in WordPerfect? Specifically, headers and footers. Thank you.

If you mean suppress for particular pages, or for sections or to have
different headers/footers then certainly - but whether this is done the way
WP does it, I haven't a clue.

If you want to eliminate headers and footers for an entire section, you can
just delete them, making sure you have turned off "same as previous" for
that section (via the icon on the header/footer toolbar).

If you want text to appear or not appear to a different pattern than by
section, you can often use conditional fields, commonly based on page
numbers. My Help has more under "Field codes: If field", or if you post
back with specifics on what you need to do, someone may be able to help you
out.

These links might not have the answer to your specific question, but you
will probably find them very useful as you switch from WordPerfect to Word.
