page numbering

working in word 2003:
i need to suppress the page numbers of a particular section in a document.
when i do this in the footer, it erases all of the page numbers.

You must first unlink the section from those preceding and following it;
then you will be able to format it independently of them.

Unlink the Header/Footer (whichever has the pagenumber) from the previous
section, and also in the subsequent section if there is one. Then when you
remove the page number, this will not be reflected in the other sections.
