If speed is your problem then a repair is probably not what you need though.
Installing XP on top of itself won't help. You need to check for spyware,
viruses and other junk running in the background.
The best way to get the best performance is to format and do a fresh install
of only software you need and the latest drivers, etc. Not for the faint of
heart though.
