Subscript Effect Is Set to Default Font???

I have a problem where my default font somehow got set to using the subscript
effect. When I go to Tools > Options > Mail Format > Fonts and try to chance
any of my fonts, the only effects it lets me enable or disable are Strikeout
and Underline. I am forced to manually edit my font format everytime I send
an email to get rid of the subscript. Does anyone know how to disable this?
