Hi

I am typing a document with the following format:

1 Introduction
1.1. ------
1.2 ---
2 Discovery
2.1
2.2
3 -----
3.1

My I am having trouble setting the styles for this format. i manage to get
the Headings right but when doing the 1.1 and so on, on section 2 it still
continues 1.3 and so on... Hope i am not to confusing.

an excellent guide on creating outline numbers. Do what Shauna says -- no
shortcuts!

It sounds like when you're defining sub-levels of the numbering scheme,
you're missing the More button and the opportunity to tell Word to restart
the level 2 numbering after a level 1 paragraph.
