Styles: Automatic Update

Suppose that Style B is based on Style A, and Style C is based on
Style B.

If Style B has Automatic Update enabled, does Style A inherit any
changes make to Style B? Does Style C inherit any changes to Style B?

Is this the same for Word 2000 and Word 2003?

Are there explicit rules that ostensibly specify the behaviour? Word
behaves unpredictably and unrepeatably enough that I don't have faith
in the results of a single experiment (or even a number of them).

Thanks.

Style A - No
Style B - Yes

The styles will inherit the characteristics of the style(s) on which they
are based unless those characteristics are overruled by the definition of
the subordinate style.

If you are bothered about this, set the styles to be based on no style and
then they will not affect one another.
