StyleRef Not Working Properly

I have a template (Word 2003) that contains StyleRefs for document ID,
document number, and revisions number. This template has been used for over
a year with no problems. Someone has since sent me their document that
continues to show a "zero" instead of the doc ID number (which is "15").
I've completely replaced the fields with new ones which looks like it is okay
until I leave the header and it changes back to "zero". I've also checked to
see if there was another instance of the style someone in the document ...
there is only the one.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

thanks,

When a STYLEREF field displays zero, you may want to look at its field
code. It seems as if the field incorrectly is trying to reference a
paragraph number, when it should reference paragraph text.

What switches are used in the field code? \s, \r, \n, and \w all refer
to paragraph numbering.
