Style Follow Bullets No Controllable

I notice that in the default template for Word, that when you apply a bullet
style to a set of paragraphs, it applies it just fine. After your last
bullet, then, you hit enter, which produces a blank line for the next bullet,
and if you have no more bullets, you simply hit enter, and it reverts to the
normal style, thereafter.

I have created my own bullet style, as I wanted a different bullet
character, but have not been able to get my own bullet style to behave the
same way as the default Word bullets.

If I tell it to use Normal style as the "style for following paragraph,
after I hit return after my first bullet, it automatically goes to Normal.
This seems logical, if I only have one bullet. HOwever, if I have multiple
bullets, I want it to keep giving me a new bullet every time I hit return
UNTIL I hit return twice at the end of the list, same as the default word
bullets.

Hope this make some sense. How can I make my bullet styles behave the same
way as the default?

Thanks!

You can't. But you can use Ctrl+Shift+N to apply the Normal style.

Yeah, there's a lot of voodoo in MS Word. It's very difficult to imitate the
built-in features, no matter how unsatisfactory they are.

PatK:
I have several custom bullet styles. To fix your problem (you probably
already know how to get to the "modify style" options so please forgive the
detailed routing instructions at the beginning):

In the "Styles and Formatting" list, select your bullet style (let's call it
"item").
Click on the downarrow on the right to open an options list and select
"Modify".
In the "Modify Style" dialog box, set "Style for following paragraph" to the
same style (in my example, "item").

Regards,
Bryan
