stuck in safe mode

HELP! I needed to re-boot my system in safe mode, and forgot my administrator
password to log in after re-boot for a clean virus scan.

I had to disable the system restore because of a trojan.desktophijack virus.

So i went to my computer and properties, diabled the system restore, then
went to msconfig and boot ini for safe mode before checking if i was loged in
as admin.

now computer will not let me do anything with out password. Any help.

Wanted to add this Update

THIS IS WHAT I DID

I useed the System Configuration Utility method

Closed all open programs.
Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the
"/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK and Restart your computer when
prompted.
The computer restarts in Safe mode.

OK DID THIS AND NOW I AM STUCK WITH A "LOG ON TO WINDOWS" SCREEN THAT DOES
NOT ACCEPT THE PASSWORD AND USERNAME I HAVE BEEN USING FOR THE LAST 3
YEARS??????????

Have you tried using the built-in Administrator account to logon in safe
mode? Password is usually is blank (nothing) for XP Home. When you gain
access in safe mode then reverse the changes you did in the System
Configuration Utility.

next time, write your password down and keep it somewhere safe.

Are you talking about the password you use to log into your account, or the
password that shows up before that [which is not on most systems, but is on
some.]

If you don't have any really important information on your computer, you can
always reformat the drive. That also helps speed up your computer. However,
there probably is an easier way...

As soon as i turn on the computer i get a splash screen from the old network
admin telling all users not to go to porn sites, games ect. This guy set up
my laptop when i worked for the comany 5 years ago.

i click OK and then a microsoft screen requesting username and password come
up with two choices. Restart or shutdown . THATS IT...

Hitting f8 and attepting the re-start in any other mode will do nothing
since i adjusted the boot ini filw for safe mode before. So safe mode is the
only choice.

Need a backdoor, or admin overide or another way to bypass and boot up.
