Stuck in Outbox ?

When I send mail it obviously goes to the outbox then to sent items... I
have noticed that when in the outbox it is in italics...

Occasssionally I have mail items that are not in italics in the outbox and
do not get delivered, they appear to be stuck, however if I open the mail
item in the outbox and simply click the send button then the item is then in
italics and gets sent...

What is going on ?
