Delayed or not sent messages and they are stored in outbox not sen

My emails are not being sent or are delayed in sending and I find them in my
outbox in regular script which is why I can tell they have not been sent.
But some have been sent because they are in italics. What is wrong?

You first: what version of Outlook and what account type? Do you have the
Reading Pane enabled in the Outbox so that the message contents shows when
you visit the Outbox?
