Streaming videos

I can't get video to stream anymore from news sites, like MSNBC and the like. Seems like RealPlayer (which used to work well) doesn't work any more. The site just sits there saying it is connecting and never does. I have looked in the wizards in XP but cannot find the answer to how to get videos to stream again. Can someone please tell me?
