Hello everyone.
I am having a strange USB issue on my dell laptop (D820)...it has worked for
a LONG time and then in the last few months, something must have been
installed or changed to create this issue...but I can only fix it temporarily.
Firstly, the USB ports work generally speaking...if I install a USB Thumb
Drive or Mouse or Keyboard, no problem. However, if I install a memory card
reader (to pull pictures from my camera) or a USB Verizon air card then I
have the following problems:
If I plug in the memory card reader, I get the beep noise from windows that
it registered, then when I put a memory card in it, I get nothing, nor can I
see the card via Explorer. If I run the Microsoft Utility Autofix.exe and
point it at the G: drive (in this case) it runs a fix on the local policy
(see below), then I log out and back in and voila! it works. After a few
reboots, though I am back to the initial error.
If boot or reboot with my USB Verizon aircard plugged in it detects and
works. If I plug it in while on, it never registers...if I remove the drivers
and reinstall while on, it then registers and works, but again a few reboots
later I am back to the problem.
It says local policy, so I don't believe that this is a policy that my
company is enforcing...also no one else at work is experiencing the same
thing...
The autofix spits out the following:
AutoFix [V5.2.3790.67]
