Hi James,

So it's not a system software issue, it's probably a mechanical one. Does
the drive work if you manually browse to it and open files? Does it read
disks at all? Spin up when one is inserted?

Hi,

Still sounds like a mechanical problem. First thing I'd recommend is a
run-through with a CD lens cleaner. Any commercially available one should
do. You can commonly find them at most stores that sell disks.
