Strange toolbar appeared in IE 6

Steve

My IE6 software has recently had the addition of a strange
toolbar. The toolbar appears underneath the address bar
at the top of the screen. It can be deselected by right-
clicking on the menu bar, but appears next time I open
IE. Its name in the toolbar list is "tecrcrozhjh".
Internet performance has slowed since this appeared.

We run ME, and we have Norton virus and firewall software
installed.

Any ideas where this has come from and what to do?

Steve,

Get ToolbarCop:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k

ToolbarCop removes the Toolbars, Toolbar buttons and unwanted menu-extensions from Internet Explorer. It does not remove the spyware from the system entirely.

Additionally, run Ad-Aware scan (www.lavasoftusa.com). Update Ad-Aware before scanning
