strange text at start up

after my sister deleted a trojan and restarting her pc all she gets now
is a blue screen with symbols in the place of text, she can make out
its the screen where you select the user but when she clicks on her
profile she gets a windows installer window which is blank, anyone know
whats going on please

What method did your sister use to remove the Trojan?

Hint: There are only two effective ways to remove a virus -
1. Let your antivirus software do it, or
2. Carefully follow the specific directions of a well known antivirus software company's technical support web site.

If you try to remove a Trojan any other way you will fail and very possibly wreck your system in the process.

she used a anti virus program which picked it up then offered to delete
it for her which she done

You need to run Spybot search and destroy and ad-aware and any other anti
trojan progs that u have. May take a while to clean up your system, you
probably have about 50 little naughties lurking in there. Had the same prob
myself and took about 4 hours to clean it up properly.

thats the problem though, she cant get windows to start all she gets is
the blue windows startup screen which i recoignised as the screen you
select your profile (ie owner) but instead of letters all she gets are
sybols such as ^^^^^^______@@@@@~~~~~ and although we can make out the
owner symbol to log on when we select that all she gets is a blank
window which has nothing in it and that is it, will i need to do a
complete reinstall of windows or is there a way in the boot up menu
which i can do something? thanks for your help by the way
