Strange Problems

This has happened twice since I reinstalled Windows XP Home (no reformat),
about a month or two ago. What will happen (and randomly), is that the
internet connection will act up. For example, some things will work, and like
one website will work but no others, and steam and an IRC program will work
as well. However, I was using the sites that didn't work only 5 minutes
earlier. Also, Windows Media Player begins to not play certain songs, then
not even ones it did play before, and sound goes away on certain programs,
and the first time this happened, the sound went away completely (said there
was no audio driver installed, and I did not uninstall that, as I was
sleeping). The first time, no windows applications (notepad, solitare, etc)
would work, unless I closed Crazy Browser (tabbed browser). Restarting,
however, fixes all of this. It has happened twice so far, and I've done virus
scans and found nothing.

Any Ideas?

Check for updates from Windows update, and all hardware driver updates.
