Strange problem with Windows Explorer

Using WinXP Home, I seem to be experiencing a strange problem - when I start
Windows Explorer and attempt to add a new folder or rename a file or folder,
I get an error message with a 'Corel Graphics' window indicating "The
feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is
not available. Insert the 'Corel Graphics Suite' and click OK". If I click
cancel, I get Error 1706: No valid source disk could be found ... The
Windows Installer cannot continue"

So I am not able to add any folders or rename files at all.

Can someone tell me why this is happening and what would be the best
workaround?

Thanks

Reboot into Safe Mode. Do the same problems still exist?

Uninstall your Corel Graphics Suite. Reboot and if you are okay then
reinstall it.

If you still have the problems go into the Registry and delete every
instance of Corel. Reboot and you should be fine.

I agree. This sounds like Corel installed some sort of an add-in into the
Windows Explorer application, and therefore when you try to perform a
function in Explorer that calls the add-in, Windows tries to access the
Corel application files. At this point, for whatever reason, the files
cannot be located, thus generating the error.

Best bet is to remove the app (as the previous post suggested). Or, if it
isn't possible to uninstall (sometimes you need all the files in place to
begin with before you can uninstall, so if you're missing files an uninstall
may fail), try reinstalling. A reinstall will probably fix the problem on
its own.

I just went through this with a clean install of XP SP2 on an
old Dell GX150 when I installed office 2000. As admin, I
could run Word, Excel etc, but the other users got the same
error message. When I changed them to admin, ran Word,
it fixed itself for the users. Then set them back to limited
users and all seems to be find. Something they did not have
rights to do the first time.

I'll tell you what I do when that happens.

Open any folder and select Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Go down that
list and like where you see Folders there is probably Corel indicated to
open them. You can play around down below and lead it to Explorer, etc., and
that can take forever especially if a ton of things are beside Corel that
Corel doesn't do. I just delete those lines or remove them and Windows gets
it straightened out, maybe you need to reboot.

I don't know why that happens ... lousy Windows programmers?
