Strange problem with some applications

I am having a problem with some of my applications. Sometimes when I go to
"My Computer", "My Documents", and other explorer applications and also
Internet Explorer, the application will not pop up until about 2 minutes
after I click the shortcut. Then I will restart my computer and I won't
have the problem the next time I load the computer. But it's been
happening more recently. What do I do? Thanks.
