Hi,
I have a strange problem with mapped drives. I am
running an mixed mode AD, and have a member server with
several shares on it. Today, about noon, when someone
was printing, things went south. At this branch there is
no DC, just the member server and about 10 win 98
machines with mapped drives to the member server. One
guy had problems connecting to the shares, so he
rebooted, and when he tries to connect to the shares now
it says his password has expired. It does not give him a
chance to change it. The share and security permissions
on the member server shares are everyone, full.
Thoughout the afternoon, several more people had problems
with the shares and after they rebooted they get the same
message. I had them reboot the member server and this
did not help. I reset the password for one of the users
in AD computers and users, and he logged on to the domain
with the new password OK, but still cannot connect to the
member server. I tried creating a new share on the member
server, but he cannot get to this one either. I tried
creating a local group, adding the domain users to this
group and applying it to the share, but still no luck.
There is nothing in the member server logs that shed any
light on this, it just seems to not want to share
anymore. The problem seems to be localized to this
member server, HELP!!!!
