Strange new CDROM device showing up in Device Manager

Windows XP Pro. I have two SATA hard drives, C and D, and a DVD R and a DVD
RW drives, set as drives Y and Z. I have a external, removeable Maxtor
Drive that USED to show up as Drive E whenever I installed it.

All of a sudden, the external drive took on the designation of Drive F with
some sort of ghost drive showing up as Drive E. In the device manager, a
non-existant CDROM drive showed up. The actual disignation in the Device
Manager is "AXV CD/DVD - ROM SCSI CdRom Device". I've tried to uninstall
it, but it keeps coming back. Rebooting does not help.

The only program I have added is Ipswitch WS_FTP Pro, version 9.

Any suggestions?

One more thing, and maybe this is the culprit...I also installed the Alcohol
120% program!
