I use Outlook 2007. I got this message in my mailbox. It was from my own
email address, but had Microsoft Outlook (my real email address in here)

The body of the email said:

This is an e-mail message sent automatically by Microsoft Office Outlook
while testing the settings for your account.

I am suspicious because I have no idea why it was testing the settings for
my account.

Perfectly normal. That's the email you get when you Test Settings while
setting up the acct. It lets you know that you set the acct up correctly.

Thanks Mary, I am glad to hear that.

I wasn't testing the settings however, perhaps I briefly lost connection to
the email server and Outlook was checking the settings.

I was suspicious about it just because I had never seen it before.

Outlook does not test anytime on its own. The only time you should get that
message is when you are in the email settings and you ask to test settings
