Strange DSL modem problem

S

scGram

Lately I am often not getting a line sync through my DSL Modem, therefore
cannot connect. Bellsouth (DSL provider) tells me to purchase a new modem
....

BUT, the strange part is ... When the line sync light is flashing on the
modem, I can click on a dial-up connection and when this connection dials
through the computers built in modem it seems to activate the DSL Modem. I
never have to actually connect through dial up, just begin the process. The
DSL Modem line sync stops flashing and remains a solid "on" status and I can
connect through DSL. This works every time and I have been using this method
for a couple of months now.

Anyone ever have this type of experience or any ideas why this would be
working this way? It's a puzzle I just can't figure out.

Check and double check all the telephone connections in the locale and make sy\ure all
connections are good as well as making sure all analogue devices have their micro-filter
properly attached.

If you have any wireless phones (not cell), unplug their power supplies
and see if the problem goes away. The same frequency of many phones can
interfere with DSL.
