strange download (or rather not) behavior

Hi,

since about a week or so, my wife's notebook exhibits a
(for me) rather strange problem:

She has no problems opening/viewing most websites, but as
soon as she tries to download something, she gets an
error message that the file/site was not found or is not
available (this does not happen at all on our other
machines, be they notebooks or desktops). Nothing
downloads (other than from the MS Windows XP update site)
at all. I have played with the IE security settings, but
no luck. I'm sorry, but I am stumped.

System is XP Pro, all updates other than Journal Viewer
and .NET, IE 6.0

No, and this problem does also not exist on other
machines' limited user accounts.
