Strange cursor bug

For some months now, I'm annoyed whith a very strange cursor bug when typing
texts:
"Regularly"(abour every minute or so), the cursor jumps back some words
backward in an unpredictable position, and the following characters I type in
get inserted right in the middle of a preceding word.

Like this for instance:
"Regularly"(abour every minute or so), the cursor jumps back some words
backward in an unpredictable position, and the following characters I type in
get inserceding wordted right in the middle of a pre

Very, very disturbing !
I began to suspect a typing error from myself, but I can't trace it, for it
would require to be able to look simultaneously at my fingers on the keyboard
and at the screen. And I can't imagine which typing error would result in
such strange cursor move: the resulting position is most of the times right
in the middle of a word, sometimes 3 words backward, sometimes somewhere in
the preceding line
(but in this case never exactly above where it should be at the end of the
last correctly typed character).

I date back this behaviour about windows XP SP1 installation, but can't be
sure.

Is this something that has already been noticed?
It is very very very annoying :to get an idea, it arrived about 10 times
when typing this message !
What can I do ?

Since you haven't told us anything about your computer, here are a few
general suggestions:

1. Decrease the mouse sensitivity from the Control Panel applet.

2. If you have the Speech and Handwriting Recognition features on in MS
Office, try turning them off per:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326526

3. Update the drivers for your mouse.

4. Try with a different mouse.

5. If you have a laptop, many newer models have the ability to turn off
the touchpad while you are typing because it is common to rest the base
of your hand on it by mistake. If this is your case, turn off the
touchpad while you are typing.
