Strange behaviour of msconfig

L

LKC

Here's a weird situation...

I very occasionally use WCESCOMM.EXE to synchronise an old Handheld PC. In
the distant past, I did this regularly, so had it in the Startup section of
msconfig. Now I don't need it except on odd occasions, so I removed it from
msconfig. Then I restart my box, and all is well, until sometime later,
WCESCOMM is started as if by magic! If I kill the task, it starts up again
later, and the entry is back in msconfig!

Either there is something that I don't know about msconfig and/or wcescomm,
or I'm going mad...

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I know nothing about WCESCOMM.EXE, but IT probably adds the start reference
back.

Apparently WCESCOMM.EXE starts from here...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Control when ActiveSync starts and stops with ActiveSync Toggle (start and
stop wcescomm.exe)

ActiveSync is available as a free download from
www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync
