Stops at Setup is Staring Windows

I'm attempting to do a Repair Installation but it only gets as far as
"Setup is Starting Windows" and will not go any farther.

I have tried different memory and have cleared the bios with no change.
The original problem started when it would not load XP. It came up with an
error - NTLDR is missing.

I have copied all the data from the hard drive onto my own computer so the
drive seems to be working OK.


AMD 1800+
256 pc2700
