Stopping Notifications??

How do I stop events, such as dialing in to an ISP, from
displaying !nformation balloons out of the notification
area? These are NOT inactive icons, but rather events
that occur.

Before I was forced to reinstall XP Pro, these events
were never heralded. But now, every time I dial in, I
get a small white balloon announcing the connection and
speed. Eventually it does away on it's own, but is
annoying. I've tried searchin help to no avail.

thanks,

chuck

To Disable Balloon Tips:

Using regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Window
\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and right-click the right pane to
create a new DWORD value named "EnableBalloonTips" (don't type the
quotes). Now double-click this new entry and give it a hex value of 0.
This disables Notification Area balloon tips for this user only.
