Stopping Movies in PowerPoint

Using PowerPoint 2003, I have inserted a film clip that runs 3.5 minutes. I
want to stop it after about 30 seconds and move to the next slide. The
on-line help describes various means to start a movie, but does not address
stopping it. The entire presentation is set up to automatically transition
from one slide to the next; however, the delay waiting for the end of the
flim slip is far too long.

To stop movie automatically,
Bring up the custom animation panel.
Then, click on the movie, select Add effect > Movie Actions > Stop.
Right click on the stop effect, select timing.
Under Delay, set it to "30 seconds", and the Start to "After Previous".
Click OK. Does this work for you?

PARTLY

Thank you. I now have it starting and stopping where I want it; the key is
to enter one custom animation to start and one to stop. Thanks again.

However, now I cannot get it to automatically transition to the next slide.
I have set the first text box on the next slide to play 00:00 After Previous.

Any suggestions?

Firstly, click on Slide Show > Slide Transition. Check under Advance slide
section, see if automatically after has been checked and set to "00:00".

Then, click Slide Show > Custom Animation. Right click on the play effect,
select effect options.
Set the Start Playing to "From Last Position". See if it works this time
round.

Feel free to send me a copy to pptheaven[at]gmail[dot]com if problem still
persists.
