I have my windows taskbar at the top of my screen (it doesn't audohide
either) and have had this configuration ever since I started on windows with
with windows 95.
An irritation in XP is that, with the taskbar at the top of the screen
(which is more useful, I think, as most menu items of windows are at the top
of their respective windows, so there's less mouse movement) sometimes when
new windows open (e.g. I launch a new app) then, when the window is in
'restore' (i.e. neither max or min) then the window title bar and sometimes
the window menu bar hides behind the taskbar.
It's a big pain. You either have to resize all windows on your desktop, or
unlock the taskbar and move it, so as to get hold of the relevant window and
move it so that the title bar can be seen.
This seems to be (from long observance of this bug) due to some windows
defaulting to an assumption of the taskbar being at the bottom of the screen,
and so moving the window a half inch (or whatever depending on screen
resolution) up , which for me often hides the title bar.
Is there a solution to this ? Even something where I can click an icon in
my system tray and the currently highlighted window is shifted down the
screen by the width of the taskbar. I don't like to move my taskbar as it's
a real pain and takes ages to restore again, as all my system tray icons seem
to want to reload.
There has to be either a clean solution for this basic bug, or else an easy
fix, such as to just force the title bar to appear over the taskbar, or move
the offending window down a bit.
And help and ideas from some kind people out there please ?
Many thanks for any help on offer.
