stop & restart service Server(landman server)

Can anyone tell me if there are any ripercussions to
running applications (fax services and its applications
etc..) if I stop and restart this service on my
printserver.

I have just read the description for this service which
is not quite clear as to what it really implies.

Any thoughts would help

No one can connect to the server while the server service is stopped.
Normally when the server service is restarted, many of the clients
immediately reconnect.
