how do i stop a newly installed prog from running at start
up? I don't want to uninstall it, just have it run when I
want it to.

Go to Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Click on the Startup tab and uncheck the program(s) you
don't want to startup, then click on "apply".

First, look for an option in the programs settings to start when the system
starts and disable the option.

If this option is not available, go to Start/Run and type msconfig and
press OK. Click the Start Up tab and look for the program in that list.
Remove the check mark from the program there.

.

This happens in various ways. A few thing to check:
1. From within the program, check to see if there is a
preferences/options tab. There might be a checkbox
associated with starting on bootup.

2. If the program icon appears in the system tray (lower
right hand corner of screen, click on it (Left or right
click), check to see if there is a preferences/options
tab. There might be a checkbox associated with starting
on bootup.

3 check the startup folder. The path is
C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

A program Icon may have been added on the install.

4. Go to Start, then RUN, click on RUN, type in
msconfig.
A window will open. Go to the startup tab. Review the
items that are Checked One of them might be associated
with the overbearing program.

Good luck

Frank
