Stop messenger on start-up.

Can anyone tell me what to do with my settings to prevent windows
(live)messenger loading every time I start up the computer?

When I uncheck it in the msconfig start-up list, it only works one time..on
the next restart. If possible, I would like to have it never load on start-up.

Open the Messenger

TOOLS menu | OPTIONS | General tab & untick the top box then it won't start
with Windows

For Windows Messenger is the same method but use the Preferences tab instead
of General tab

If you delete the registry key then MSN Messenger startup key is created on
close

Open Messenger,
Click on Tools > Options> General
Untick "Automatically run Messenger when I log on to Windows"
That should do it.

If you have Outlook Express 6, go to Tools > Windows Messenger > Options >
Preferences and in the general area uncheck “run this program when windows
starts†and “allow this program to run in the background*.

Got to Control Panel > Add or remove programs. Select add or
remove Windows components, and uncheck Windows Messenger.
Rather than just disabling it, this will remove Windows Messenger
from your system.

While you're at it, also run services.msc and disable the Messenger
Service.
