stop errors

We are running windows 2000 SP$ on a Netserver E60 Pentium 3. We had problems
with this machine so transfered the HD to a netserver e800 P3. Upon restart
the machine boots up until the windows 2000 server family screen appears, the
it blue screens with the message "stop 0x0000007B (0xF201B848,
0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000) INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
We have tried to repair the installation using a 2000 server cd, however
when ever we use the cd we also get a stop message. The setup files load and
then just before the welcome to setup screen appears it blue screens with the
stop error at the bottom of the screen
stop 0x0000007e (0x80000003, 0x080ad8ab9, 0xf791a854, 0xf791a4a4)
this is stopping us reapiring or reinstalling.
Any ideas around this.

Hi,
If this is a dc, then running an in-place upgrade was not a good move. It
might have broken the Registry.

Can you boot through the safe mode. If yes, Copy the msconfig utility from a
windows xp or windows 2003 machine and open it. Go to startup items and
disable all. Go to services AND MAKE SURE YOU HIDE ALL MICROSOFT SERVICES AND
then click on disable all. This will disable all the third party services. If
this works ,then, enable the services one by one to check which service is
causing the issue.
If you are not able to boot through the safemode , try the following:

OR
Perform a parallel install on a different partition. Run chkdsk /r on the
system drive. Send the following two files to me([email protected]):
c:\winnt\system32\config\system
c:\winnt\repair\system
Please rename them as systemc and systemr repectively.
