I need help!! My computer will not start up properly,
when I turn it on a screen comes up, sort of like the
Advanced Options screen and gives me options of how to
start the computer (Start windows normally, safe mode,
Last Known Configuration, etc.) None of them will work
however. It will begin to startup and then the screen
turns blue with white writing and says that windows has
encountered a problem and it says UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME.

Nothing I have tried works, I found instructions on how to
fix the problem, but they require starting in safe-mode
with command prompt and my computer will not do it. If
anyone has any idea what to do, please let me know!

Try to do the following: Boot in Safe Mod
Start clicking F8 as soon as you turn it on. Takes many clicks
Once in Safe Mode you can try to do a Restor
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore (can go back up to 90 days)
If that doesn't work. Set your BIOS to boot from the CD-Rom, probably D drive

Your WinXP CD is a bootable disk, and do a Repair install

Thank you very much for the help. I would try to do what
you said, but my computer won't boot up in any mode. I
can get to the Advanced settings window by doing the F8,
but then when I choose a method of booting up, it starts
to and then goes back to the blue screen witht he error on
it. Thanks though, I will probably have to end up
restoring my entire hard drive.
