stop error disabled XP

I've received a stop error and I have searched all over
for help because I cannot start XP even in "safe" mode.

I'm a novice and fear I'm going to lose everything on my
computer if I reload XP. I see articles suggesting many
solutions but I cannot get to safe mode of any type to
perform the fixes I've found. How can i use the recovery
console to fix this problem without losing all my photos
and folders?

As a novice (me included) its best to print out all the
steps and follow them exactly and if your not sure at any
point ask for more help.
