Stop error 0x0000008e

I've recently changed hard drives and reinstalled all my software and
drivers. Things were going along smoothly until I tried to connect to another
computer in my company's network(something I've done several times since
restallation) to backup files off of it using my CD drive on my laptop. I'm
using PCMcLan to connect to the Appletalk network as the other computer is
the brains of my HP Indigo press. When it connects to the computer, it allows
me to get to the input side and almost to my destination when the screen goes
black and a blue screen pops up with error code 0x0000008e
(0x0000005,0x806ed134,0xedc7cb0c,0x0000000), most of my research to date
points to memory modules or drivers, but checking them shows them to be
operating correctly. I hope someone can give me an answer as to what I should
do. I'm running XP sp2 with all updates in place.

First try to eliminate hardware, by going to Device manager and check by
expanding the Plus [+] to see all devices listed, if there is a
malfunctioning device or conflicting device it will show in Device manager.

Scan your operating system for malware and viruses with an up2date
protection software. Check with the company that their server okay and your
credential not being changed.
Look in the event Viewer for error messages(X) that can help in discovering
the culprit.

Something similar occurred about 10 days ago on an office computer. I
took the computer to the local small repair shop. Their first reaction
was that it was caused by an anti-virus update. It turned out to be one
of the recent Net Framework updates, which they uninstalled and
reinstalled -problem solved. The problem was recorded in Event Viewer. I
had the computer repaired because I was too busy with other things at
the time.

It is certainly worth the OP looking at these updates. The Stop Error
code was 0x0000008e (0xC0000005,. The OP is reporting the code without
the C. Could be a typo.

It would seem that repairing the .Net framework helped, I was able to log on
to the Appletalk network, access the press' computer and navigate to the
archive file. Thanks for the help, your input was a great help.

It would seem that somewhere along the line, an update for framework 2 was
downloaded after the installation of framework 3, so that may have been the
problem. I simply repaired framework 3 to get it to work.

Thanks again.
