Stop carriage return in a form field in Word

I am trying to set up a form so that users can tab from field to filed to
complete. I want them to fill in details but not be able to press carriage
return (next line) so that it alters the size of the field and causes the
form to go off the page.

Put the form fields in table cells of fixed proportions. It will not stop
users pressing enter, but they will quickly see something is wrong when
their text disappears.

Set up the formfields in the cells of a table that has fixed cell
dimensions.
